Fair Housing
The Principle
SQOUT describes places, buildings, units, services, operations, and observable rental conditions. SQOUT does not describe, infer, rank, or steer by the protected-class composition of who lives in a place.
The Full Disclaimer
SQOUT is a research and verification service for renters. We do not represent any party in a real estate transaction, do not negotiate leases, and are not compensated by landlords. All reports are informational; renters make their own decisions.
SQOUT is committed to Fair Housing. Our reports describe the environmental, sensory, and operational characteristics of places, not the protected-class composition of who lives there. We do not rank or filter neighborhoods or buildings by race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, familial status, disability, age, marital status, military status, or source of income. If anything you see on a SQOUT report reads as steering, please contact hello@sqout.co. We will review and update. To file a Fair Housing complaint, contact HUD at 1-800-669-9777 or visit hud.gov/fairhousing.
Protected Classes We Operate To
- Federal: race, color, national origin, religion, sex including sexual orientation and gender identity, familial status, and disability.
- Florida: the federal protected classes.
- Common local additions we honor: age, marital status, source of income, military or veteran status, and criminal record under HUD 2016 OGC guidance.
We write for the broader standard, not the narrower one.
What This Means In Product
- We describe places, not people.
- We use needs-based selectors, not persona selectors.
- Crime and school data, when used, are factual per-page surfaces and never ranking inputs.
